Shedding like a cat in the spring!

Okay I know that I've always been blessed with a full head of hair, but right now I'm shedding just like a kitty in the springtime! It's litterally coming out by the handful. Yes, I get my protein in and I take my biotin.

I sure hope it slows down soon ... if not, I might have to start looking at hats or wigs LOL.

BTW ... I'm just about 5 months out, so I guess I'm in the "thick" of it. (Or at least I sure hope so.)

Meeee  Toooo.....  I used to have the thickest hair ever and beautiful. I have to clean out my hairbrushes daily and the shower drain. I'm thinking about getting my hair cut shorter, but I've always had long hair and would probaly be disgusted with it. I don't know yet... Hopefully it'll stop falling out soon..

Hey Tiffany -

Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone. Hopefully it will get better before you have to resort to cutting it all. If you do decide to cut it, what about getting it layered so that you keep most of the length and allow the shorter layers boost the "volume" ... Just a thought.

Barb

P.S. We could always save all that hair and make ourselves wigs if worse, comes to worse LOL!

Well ... I'm hoping that it grows back in soon. As far as trade offs go, it' s a pretty good one.

My hair started falling out around 3 1/2 months and peaked around 5 months out.  It has slowed down now (7 months) and I have alot of 1 inch growth around my temples and the top of my head, which is where most of it came out.  It does stop and it will grow back.  Keep doing what you're doing... For the record, I believe that my hair was primarily breaking, not falling out.  We lose 2000 hairs a day from our heads when everything is normal, according to my hair dresser.  That sort of helped me put it into perspective.  She advised me to treat my hair gently until it gets better.  Wa**** gently, but massage your scalp for a minute while you're lathering.  Use a reconstructing conditioner every time, I'll wager you're hair is dryer now than it was before anyway.  Get a wide toothed comb to comb it while it's wet.  Try to handle it as little as possible while it's wet, that's when it's most prone to breakage.  Finally, limit the heat you're using to style it.  A blow dryer is okay, just use as little heat as possible.  When I started doing all of that, I noticed a difference.  Might be coincidence, but makes me feel like I'm doing something. Take care, this too shall pass. Ellen

Own it all, it's yours!

Hi Ellen -

Thanks for the information. I started noticing that I was losing more hair than normal at about 3.5 months too. I'll be 5 months out Tuesday, so hopefully it will start to slow. You are right, my hair does seem somewhat dryer that it did before, so I'll try some extra conditioning.

I almost never use a blow dryer and rarely even use a comb or a brush. I normally just wash and condition it, then put it up in a towel while I dry off and then finger it into place.

Thanks for the hope!

Barb

Girls , this too shall pass. I lost so much hair , and I did not have much to start with.... BUT it did stop and grew back just fine :)

Hang in there

Hi Barb! My hair has begun to fall out as well.  Just looks stringy all the time.  It's baby fine so that doesn't help.  I guess the timing is right...  There is hair in the brush to clean out every day, that's for sure.  And there is long hair on everything!  LOL Wouldn't it be nice if the excess skin were to shed?  LOL
